Mural Project in Corona, Queens

I have been off the radar assisting artist Chris Cortes of CortesCreates with a mural project for a cleaners turned Mexican/ Latin themed lounge located in Corona, Queens. I started helping out on the project last week and it has been fun painting on a large-scale for a change. I haven’t worked this size since doing scenery for stage sets. There are about 6 or 7 different wall scenes in the space  and here are some images of the areas I worked on under his direction. He had the basic scenes already sketched out while I built up color, highlights and shadows to define the clouds, water, rainforest and hilly pueblo areas. Chris would then come back in to add another layer of highlight or color to achieve the desired effect he wanted,

Hopefully, next week I can go back and continue working on some of the remaining scenes but I have to catch up on some of my other projects. I am grateful to Cortes for inviting me to work with him on this project; I have learned a great deal. The owner is hoping to be open by Cinco de Mayo so hopefully you can stop by, play some pool and have a drink while you take in a Latin landscape!
